5 TIPS FOR JOB SEEKERS LOOKING TO MOVE CITIES -
OUR RESUME WRITERS WEIGH IN

Moving? Simple things you can do to help the process move along effectively.

Looking for a job in a new city? Exciting! A fresh start in a new place can help revitalize ones career and life. However, job searching out of state or city presents it’s own hurdles to leap over that can often times make the search ever so slightly more difficult than searching within your geographic area. Our resume writers know the challenges well and they’ve weighed in on some small, simple things you can do to help the process move along effectively.

  1. "State your intentions in the cover letter." – Resume writer, Cheryl
  2. "I would recommend they place their resume on job boards prior to their move, so they can develop leads for employment before they arrive." – Resume writer, Keith
  3. "See if you can hook up with someone who already lives and works there to get a feel for the environment. Check out the local newspapers online- or even the Chamber of Commerce – to research the businesses." – Resume writer, Joanna
  4. "Take off your mailing address and just use your new city/state on the resume." – Resume writer, Tara
  5. "Use LinkedIn to see who you know or any connections and reach out. Send a letter to them all indicating that you are moving and ask for introductions." –Resume Writer, Carrie

If you’re moving cities or states the key is to be as prepared as possible. Moving with a new position lined up is always more ideal, and in order to achieve this, you’ll want to reach out to as many contacts as possible in your new city, ask for introductions, and research potential companies of interest. Make your intent known and remember- don’t be shy!
